Purple Up Day Graphic for Military Children 2026

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize and celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of students whose families serve in our armed forces.

We encourage everyone to wear purple on April 22 for Purple Up Day as a visible show of support and appreciation for military children across our district and community.

In Horry County Schools, we are proud to support our military-connected students and honor the important role they play in our school communities. Their experiences, adaptability, and perseverance make a lasting impact in our classrooms. As a Purple Star District, we are committed to providing resources and support for military families.

All State Chorus 2026

Five AHS students (L-R Peyton Dantzler, Olivia Orfant, Parker Jones, Emma Lee Graham, and Hannah Benton) participated in SC All-State Chorus at Winthrop University. They auditioned in the fall and were selected based on scores in an individual song audition and sight-reading evaluation. While at Winthrop, they participated in rehearsals for 3 days with experts in the field of choral music and managed to have some fun too!

Upon returning to Aynor High, they have been able to share their knowledge and experiences to help build skills and increase achievement of the entire group. The SC All-State process has been around for many years. For Mrs. Scarlet Whittington, experiencing SC All-State Chorus changed the entire trajectory of her life...it was one of the driving forces in her decision to become a choir director. She is most grateful to have had this opportunity as a student and to help provide this experience for her students! We are super proud of them.
