The Horry County Board of Education is in the final phase of its search for a new superintendent to lead Horry County Schools. The Board will announce the top three finalists at its December 9 meeting.
The public is invited to attend a meet and greet opportunity with the three candidates on the evening of December 10, at Ocean Bay Middle School.

On November 13, 2024, seven AHS athletes participated in National Signing Day, one of the most thrilling and unforgettable moments in an athlete’s recruiting journey. It’s the day when dreams become reality as athletes officially commit to the college programs they’ve worked so hard to join. Signing that letter not only symbolizes their athletic achievements but also their journey to the next big chapter of life.
Congratulations to AHS Orchestra students for earning a position in the South Carolina All Region Five Orchestra. This is a record number for our school and a very prestigious opportunity for our students. They had an amazing weekend of learning and fellowship with students from all over southeastern South Carolina. This November Mr. Josh Paul was recognized by his peers as the Aynor High School Teacher of the Year. He is known for his heart for kids. He is lovingly referred to as Coach Paul by many. He is a strong and dependable part of the math team at AHS. His coworkers value his work ethic and leadership skills. Mr. Paul is dedicated to making learning fun and engaging. His passion for education is evident in the success and praise of his students.

Horry County Schools’ performance on the 2024 state report cards, based on overall ratings, shows that 36 out of 50 district schools (72%) were rated as Excellent or Good. Of those,14 HCS schools were rated Excellent, while 22 were rated Good. No HCS schools were rated Below Average or Unsatisfactory.
Kathy Richardson is the 23-24 Support Staff of the Year. Mrs. Richardson is a huge asset to AHS! She has been a library assistant for over 20 years. She is an encourager and best known as a worker bee. Her dedication to the students and faculty at Aynor High shows in her Blue Jacket pride and constant hard work. We are proud for her to represent Aynor High School!
As part of our ongoing efforts to prioritize the safety and security of our schools, we are implementing a clear backpack protocol for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
