That was the message conveyed by Dr. Cindy Elsberry, Superintendent of Horry County Schools; Chief Saundra Rhodes, Interim Chief of the Horry County Police Department; and Deputy Solicitor Jimmy Richardson of the 15th Judicial Circuit at a press conference held on May 4. Each addressed the impact that threats to schools have on education, law enforcement and the judicial system. A public service announcement was shared with local media to use in a community effort to stop the rash of nuisance threats to schools. Watch video.

AHS honored Blue Shirt Day and the World Day of Bullying Prevention on Monday, October 3rd.
AHS students, faculty and staff wore blue shirts on Monday to create a visual sea of blue to honor Blue Shirt Day and the World Day of Bullying Prevention.

Teacher of the Year
Chad Sarvis, Aynor High School’s driver education teacher, has been selected as the South Carolina Driver Education Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association. Read more.
Aynor High School SAT scores top
national average
The College Board released results of the SAT for 2010 today,revealing a six-point increase in Horry County Schools’ composite of critical reading, math, and writing scores. SAT scores went up in the same year when two-percent more students took the test.
Four out of nine high schools topped the national average.
